About Us

The National Secretariat for Social Action (NASSA) /Caritas Philippines is the development, advocacy and humanitarian arm of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines. The Humanitarian Unit of NASSA is currently heading the Catholic Church’s most massive recovery program for the survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) together with its nine diocesan partners. The three-year program called #REACHPhilippines (REcovery Assistance to Vulnerable Communities Affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines) is currently served to nine dioceses or provinces: Leyte, Western Samar, Eastern Samar, Palawan, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, and Cebu.

Now on its second year, NASSA/Caritas Philippines through the #REACHPhilippines program will continue to support Yolanda victims in need of shelter, water, sanitation, and livelihoods. There will also be greater and serious efforts to enhance accountability, program effectiveness and coherence across the nine dioceses. The program approach will be to work towards sustainability by integrating community managed disaster risk reduction with community organising processes.
